Its the day India has been waiting for after more than six weeks. Votes are being counted after hundreds of millions of Indians voted to choose their new government.
The world's biggest election was held in seven phases, with voting taking place from April 11 to May 19. The counting of votes began at 8am on Thursday, May 23.
The results of the election will determine who will lead India for the next five years. The main contenders are the incumbent Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rahul Gandhi of the Indian National Congress (INC).
