Close Call at Golden League Event

In a heart-stopping moment during the IAAF Golden League event in Rome on Friday, French long jumper Salim Sdiri was impaled in the back by a javelin thrown by Finnish competitor Tero Pitkämäki. The incident occurred when Pitkämäki's javelin veered off course and struck Sdiri in the scapula, just inches away from his heart.

Miraculous Survival

Despite the severity of the injury, Sdiri miraculously survived the ordeal. The javelin missed vital organs and did not penetrate his chest cavity. Medical personnel rushed to his aid and immediately removed the javelin, providing emergency medical care on the field.

Sdiri is currently being treated in a Rome hospital, where he is said to be in stable condition. His recovery is expected to take several weeks.
